About Daniah Miller

I graduated from the University of New Haven with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 2015 and started my first big girl job as a Staff Engineer at a private Civil Engineering firm here in Nassau, Bahamas a few weeks later.

It didn’t take long for me to realize the career path I’d picked wasn’t the one I actually wanted. So after five years of college, and one year as a Baby Engineer, I quit with no backup plan – a very uncharacteristic move for my straight-lined personality.  My family thought I was having a nervous breakdown, my boss thought I just needed to try something else, my friends thought I was finally doing what I wanted to do, and I had no idea what I thought, but I knew what I felt: RELIEF

With student loan debt repayment looming and my mental health crumbling, I decided to revert to my favorite childhood hobby: writing. When I picked up my pen, it felt like I was reconnecting with an old friend. I spent hours writing notes about any and everything and eventually realized that I’d begun the journey back to myself.

In between dozens of job applications and unsuccessful interviews, I also found comfort for my aching brain and broken heart in the stories other people were telling about their meandering career paths.  By the Summer of 2016 I decided to start Blogging about what I was experiencing on my faith and mental health journey to give myself an outlet, and give others some companionship.

Six years and hundreds of published words later, I’ve helped myself and others to heal by expressing difficult emotions through words.

I haven’t revisited the Engineering field, but I use the organizational and mathematical competencies I learned from my schooling and work to write and edit unique copy for my diverse client base. Freelance Creative Writing and Editing may seem a far cry from Engineering, but the journey between them is actually the span of my dual personality. I am an Analytical Creative – I have a profound respect for artistry, but I crave structure in my expression. I incorporate both my logical and imaginative sides to write pieces that are distinct and accurate expressions of what my client would like to say.
